2010 Graduation Information

The 2010 Graduation Ceremony will take place on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at 7:00pm in the Lakeridge Gymnasium.

DISTRIBUTION OF CAPS & GOWNS:

• If your senior did not pick up their cap and gown, please see Liz Murphy in the Counseling Office.
• If you have not ordered one, call Jostens directly at 503-723-8006 and ask for Mike or Karen Thul.
• Limited scholarships are available for those who need them.  Contact Liz Murphy at 503.234-5319 ext. 4577 or your counselor.

SENIOR BREAKFAST:

• Thursday, June 10^th at 7:30am in the cafeteria.
• Attendance is mandatory for the breakfast and Graduation Rehearsal.  Seniors not attending will not be able to walk during the graduation ceremony.
• Ceremony tickets, honor cords and seat assignments will be given at the Graduation Rehearsal.

GRADUATION TICKETS:

• Six (6) tickets per senior will be issued.

• Tickets will be distributed in the upper gym following the Senior Breakfast and before the Graduation Rehearsal.  Seniors must be cleared before picking up their tickets.

• Lost tickets will NOT be replaced.

• If you do not need all 6 tickets, please contact Liz Murphy.

• In the event there are extra tickets, they may be purchased for $15 per ticket through the Lakeridge Bookkeeper beginning May 10^th.  These tickets are on a first come, first serve basis with the proceeds benefitting the Senior Grad Night.

GRADUATION REHEARSAL:  Thursday, June 10^th.  

• All graduating seniors are required to attend.  SENIORS WHO DO NOT ATTEND, WILL NOT BE ABLE TO WALK AT THE GRADUATION CEREMONY.

• Seniors should report to the upper gym following the breakfast; the rehearsal should be over by noon.

• Seniors will pick up honor cords in the upper gym before beginning the rehearsal.
• Seniors are expected to be in their assigned seats at 8:30am.  (Seat assignments are given with tickets).
• Seniors are required to leave the building immediately following rehearsal as school is still in session for the rest of the student body.
• Tickets will be distributed in the upper gym after the Senior Breakfast and before the Graduation Rehearsal.  Seniors must be cleared before picking up their tickets.

ACCESSIBLE SEATING: 

• If you will need accessible seating, please email Liz Murphy at murphyl@loswego.k12.or.us by May 21^st with the name of the person needing seating, reason for needed seating and the name of the person to be seated with them. 

• Guests will have a reserved space for a maximum of 2 people.

• Doors for handicap seating will open at 6:00pm for the ticket holder and one escort. 

• Handicap seating will need a ticket for admittance.

COMMENCEMENT GUIDELINES:

• All seniors must wear the designated caps and gowns.There will be no exceptions.
• All seniors must wear caps and gowns free of symbols, emblems or other decorations. This is a formal ceremony, without distractions, in honor of parents and students.  Caps that are decorated or marked in any way will be confiscated. 
• Only honor cords may be worn. No other items are allowed at graduation other than the students’ cap and gown.  Please do not provide anything to your senior to bring to the graduation ceremony.  A robe check will occur just before the ceremony begins.
• Seniors should bring a change of clothes for the graduation all-night party.  They may change immediately following the ceremony.  The change of clothes needs to be kept by the family.
• Press gowns with a cool iron.

Dress Guidelines:

• Please, no baseball caps or hats of any kind.  No jeans; appropriate dress and shoes required for everyone.  This is a formal ceremony.
• Gentlemen are encouraged to wear slacks, a collared shirt, socks and shoes.
• Ladies are encouraged to wear light-colored and lightweight dresses or pants (so they do not show through the gown).  Tradition dictates minimal, simple jewelry with caps and gowns.

COMMENCEMENT:
Thursday, June 10^th at 7:00pm in the Lower Lakeridge Gymnasium.

• Handicap access is available.
• Graduates need to assemble in the upper gym promptly at 6:00pm where they will be lined up, in proper order for the Commencement Processional.
• There will NOT be a changing room, so grads should wear their caps and gowns to the ceremony.
• Doors to the Gymnasium will open at 6:15pm for seating by ticket only.
• Doors for handicap seating will open at 6:00pm for the ticket holder and one escort.  Handicap seating will need a ticket for admittance.

*Special note: A form is available for any senior class member who chooses not to participate in Commencement.  This form must be signed by parents and turned in to their counselor by Friday, May 22^nd.  You may pick up the form from Kay Wheeler, Registrar.

PHOTOGRAPHY:

You enjoy the ceremony...we'll capture the moment! Congratulations in advance on the upcoming graduation of your high school senior! We look forward to participating in this important milestone by photographing the commencement ceremony.  We know this is a busy time for you, and that all of your relatives will be anxiously awaiting news and photos.  With this in mind, we wanted to let you know that 48 hours after the ceremony you will be able to find and order photos of your graduate online at: http://www.fundraiser-photos.com  Simply click "Online" and enter the code LRHS2010.  We will ship your photographs to you directly upon receipt of your order. Time Saving Tip:  We will post the photos in chronological order, so it will help if you are aware of the approximate time that your graduate crosses the stage.  Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.  We look forward to seeing you at graduation! There will NOT be a professional photographer at the Graduation Reception to take formal photos.

SENIOR RECEPTION:

• The reception is for all family and friends of graduates and will be held in the Cafeteria/Commons immediately following the commencement ceremony. 

DIPLOMAS:

• Diplomas are to be picked up in the Rotunda after the ceremony by the graduate or parent.  
• Diplomas will not be inserted into the embossed covers presented to graduates during the Commencement Ceremony. 
• No diplomas will be given out before this date.

 

PARKING LOCATIONS :

• Lakeridge High School East Parking Lot

• Lakeridge High School West Parking Lot

• The LDS Church Parking Lot

• Christian City Church, and of course, local streets.

• Please observe city parking signs when using street parking.

Graduation Day events:

• 7:30am ~ Senior Breakfast in the Cafeteria.

• All Seniors MUST attend the breakfast!

• 8:30am ~ Graduation Rehearsal – report to upper gym

• 7:00pm ~ Graduation Ceremony – LHS lower gym

• Graduates report to the upper gym by 6:00pm.

• Doors open at 6:15pm (no early admittance)

• Following the ceremony, graduates will have the opportunity to meet family and friends at the reception in the Cafeteria.
