“Action Jackson”
As long as I can remember, I’ve been surrounded by art. I can visualize the times when I was five and see myself even then taking art classes. I’ve always found drawing people and living subjects to be quiet enjoyable and not too difficult. But this year I wanted to challenge myself a little more in that arena and develop my concentration to focus around the human figure. I wanted to bring myself to a point where I could create the human figure knowing muscle curves and shadow points without having problems. Through out the year I would attend the Hipbone Studio sessions on Saturday, so I can draw live human models of both genders. Going to Hipbone, I found, really helped me develop my skills with not only the human figure, but also drawing in general.
When I was thinking up ideas, I would have a hard time making them up on the spot. So I would actually get my ideas from the drawings I did, or maybe from experimenting with different materials. I decided to use mostly acrylic paint and drawing utensils because its what I’m sort of most comfortable with and I feel like I know how use it well. But through out the year, I would try and find something new to work with and bring that material into one of my pieces. Or I would try and take two completely different materials and put it into one piece. Like I made a stencil from one of my photos and used it to created it by using spray-paint with an over layer of color pencil shading. I am quiet satisfied with my work of art this year.
