My concentration is the expression of relationships and emotional ties through spatial relationships. These relationships may be between one person and another, or between a person and an object.
I have always been drawn to the concept of human interaction—both interaction between people and person’s interaction with their environment. Despite the deep complexities found in these interactions, I am constantly inspired by the possibility of pinpointing these relationships visually through art and encouraged by art’s effectiveness in portraying human emotion.
I express my concentration through drawing and painting, and I often mix the media to add detail or create dimension and texture. I tend to accentuate open space in my pieces, not only because I find it pleasing to the eye but also because it emphasizes my concentration. By using this ample space, attention is drawn to the subjects of the piece and how they interact and relate. Not only the “body language” of two subjects are expressive, but also the size and dimension of space between and around them.
