Child hood is the most carefree time of your life, and was probably one of the most fun! but does anyone really remember this incredible time? Are kids these beautiful wide eyed little angels that everyone thinks they are? Do they really enjoy the baby talk? and what about when their old enough to put t.v at the top of their priority list? This is what i aimed to achieve through my art. The distorted reality of children. whether it be a distorted view of children from adults, from them selves, or of life outside of themselves. I delved deep into this idea and tried to capture all aspects of it. I really want people to rethink how they live, and maybe take a step back away from their busy work orientated lives towards the child that is in all of them. A huge part of my process was trying to create these works the way a child would have. I had to resort to a very tunneled way of looking at things. if it came to me a certain way, then that's the way I showed it. no sugar coating anything. when a child looks at something, they don’t immediately think “wow that's cool, but what if I used contrasting colors here to pop that color there, and what about adding some darks to really add to the lights!” NO. they just do what comes to them. It’s the purest way of creating. That's what makes the outcome so much more interesting and unique.
This series of works was and incredible pleasure to have worked on. it pushed me away from all the overly worked previous art that I was used to looking at. it opened me up to a new way of looking at things. |
